COVID ZOMBIES

It is the time 2020, a year struck by the pandemic globally. People contracting with the virus, having troubles such as headaches, fever or pain, slowly and slowly leading to death.

 

Well, it wasn’t enough! It was nothing! The news and papers said “Stay at home, don’t go outside and you will be safe.” And it all would’ve worked out for us if we had listened. At first it was the mild symptoms, later on, it were deaths. But I am telling you it was nothing. Deaths were nothing as compared to what now exists…

 

COVID ZOMBIES

 

The more people started going out, the more the virus spread; and in a while it got mutated! Mutated to an abnormal virus which who now gets infected with will turn into a walking corpse!

 

I still remember the coverage on the news channel by helicopters, the first covid zombie came to existence on the beach. It was a nice sunny afternoon, people were getting tanned on the beach, small kids were building sand castles and the adults were sipping their beers.

 

And then…

 

A covid zombie came walking from the sea towards the coast. By the coverage of the helicopter, it was to be seen that the zombie was emerging from red blooded sea. Reporters were saying that the unliving creature had killed the surfers and sailors and had fed on their fresh pink flesh, that it had consumed the people and was heading towards the coast!

 

That was the last ever coverage by the media, that was the last thing on television, because after that, n one knew what happened to the kids and the people on the beach, what happened to the helicopters, all we know that shortly after the coverage was cut into a blank screen on our tv’s and…

 

The Dawn Had Begun !

 

2 months later…

 

I am living in a tiny condo on the outskirts of the town, there is no electricity, no fuel for vehicles, no working water pipelines, not a thing! Electricity has been out, there are no telephones or cell phones, no towers, all the roads are empty, all the city is gone.. there is no human existence… humans are on the verge of going extinct!

 

Only a handful of humans are left, some have ran on the last airplane, some have fled on the last ship to the arctic pole and Greenland where in the cold covid and covid zombies can’t survive, and about less than a dozen humans are still here, who couldn’t make it to the airport or who have solemnly sweared to end these dead people!

 

I don’t know where are the rest, but on the outskirts, I am alone along with a neighbour James. We don’t have food, so we hunt whats left for us, dogs, boars, squirrels, rabbits!

We don’t have water to drink, all that runs in the pipelines are blood red water, and yes, we drink it with a pleasure of survival.

 

Me and James and the others, are here to end this army of corpses; we are on our own; we know we will die, but we will surely not turn into one of them. We have kept a tube of mercury forged into our necklaces, if one of us gets caught, we will drink it before becoming the unliving.

 

1 week later…

 

It is time… the dead have come to our doors… we have eliminated 68 zombies in the past one week; but hundreds are still there; the dozen we were… all of them are dead somewhere… its only me and James!

 

They are at our doors. I climb to my terrace and take a leap onto James’s terrace… we have our shotguns ready… we keep aiming for their heads but it’s a waste of time.

 

James looks me in the eye and says “We’ll drink the mercury now!” I look at him my eyes were filled with tears of regret! James breaks his necklace and was about to drink the mercury, but then a helicopter emerges, it was the zombie, the first covid zombie operating the helicopter… that’s what happened to the helicopter! It comes near James, a zombie lands on James’s head to eat him alive. I cover for James and shoot the zombie that son of a b**ch!… I say “Do it now James, do it…” He says “But what about you?”

 

James dies with his last sip of anything but mercury and I, I was eaten alive by the first zombie! I am now the UNLIVING!
